![]() Don't expect brand new fixtures in the restrooms, but they were generally clean. The house is big with classic architecture. There are restrooms accessible inside and out. There are water fountains and water bottle fill stations available about the playgrounds. There's no A/C, but staff opened windows and turned fans on HIGH to keep the air moving. There appear to be a couple of classrooms with kid-sized tables and chairs. Indoors, 3 separate floors contain plenty of room to be creative with drama, music, blocks, a doll house, a shop with grocery carts and a cash register, and more. There must be 7-8 separate playgrounds/areas for kids to play outdoors that feature swings, non-traditional seesaws, whimsical pirate ship themed jungle gyms, a hardwood slide built in the early 1900s, a huge climbing jungle gym "thing" with a trampoline in the center, and plenty more! There are plenty of benches for parents/teachers/grandparents, and there's a good amount of shade (yes!) even on these hot August days. It was soon apparent that this place is a favorite with daycare centers and other groups of kids. Soon, we parked in the shade along the drive to the mansion and walked to the entrance. Lovely drive along the river lead to the grand entrance to the park just South of the reservoir, with a huge statue of Grant. I discovered Smith Playground via Google Maps, did some quick research, and jumped in the car. Visiting Philly for family wedding and needed a fun activity to keep our 3 year old active and the family entertained on a hot, breezy Thursday.
